The Olive is a small family-operated restaurant focused on homecooked food of the best quality. The first sign of a great restaurant is a small and specialized menu at the Olive Kitchen & Bar, the menu typically remains the same for years at a time. This way, you know exactly what to expect: chefs specializing in executing the few courses to perfection.

However, all of this typically means a hefty price tag. Yet, since The Olive Kitchen & Bar is a family-sized business, they're not bound to boosting profit margins every quarter, or a sophisticated brand you pay extra for. No, The Olive Kitchen & Bar are simply minded – they just want to make excellent food for anyone to enjoy.

For 375 DKK, you can have a 4-course menu consisting of Norwegian salmon tartar with avocado cream, capers, and freshly cut herbs followed by a creamy mushroom soup made from mixed mushrooms topped with truffle oil. Your main course will be a peppercorn flank steak served with sweet potato puree, braised vegetables, and rosemary peppercorn sauce, and finally, for dessert, a sweet Creme Brulee. And if 4-courses is overkill, you can go with a stand-alone main course for 175 DKK.

Despite the food being the main value driver, The Olive Kitchen & Bar also successfully manages to create a stereotypical Danish 'hyggelig' atmosphere with not just their recyclable wooden panels and exposed brick walls, but also partly due to a very service-minded staff. At The Olive Kitchen & Bar, the waiters are not just pouring you water as your glass empties, they take their time to talk to you and make you feel welcome – after all, it is a family-operated restaurant – and it shows. But don't take our word for it! Search for The Olive Kitchen & Bar on Tripadvisor, and you will see them being granted a "Travellers Choice's Certificate of Excellence" with ratings awarding them the 7th best restaurant in all of Copenhagen (out of 1.995 restaurants!).
